Betway Premier League: Eric takes on the Viking

Eric Bristow and Jan Molby will face-off ahead of the Betway Premier League at the Echo Arena Liverpool

Darts legend ‘Crafty Cockney’ Eric Bristow will face ‘Honorary Scouser’ Jan Molby in a charity match ahead of the third round of action from the Betway Premier League.

And it should be ex-Liverpool star Molby with the backing of the crowd as the contest takes place at the Echo Arena on the banks of the Mersey.

The tale of the tape shows Eric, with no less than five World Championships in Darts, and Molby with an equally impressive haul of medals on the football pitch.

The Dane has three League Championship winners’ medals, three FA Cup winners’ medals and a League Cup medal thrown in for good measure.

He also led Kidderminster Harriers to the Football Conference title as a manager.

Bristow, whose last title came in 1986, has been made the long odds-on favourite to defeat Molby. Punters won’t get rich backing the Londoner at 1/8, although it’s probably not in ‘lump-on’ territory as our scouts suggest that Molby is no stranger to a 15-dart leg.

Back in those heady mid-80s just as Bristow’s light was fading Molby was completing the double with boss Kenny Dalglsih a fledgling manager in the Anfield hotseat.

Molby is 5/1 for more success in the city, although a better bet might be a 2-1 Bristow victory in this ‘best of three’ contest at a price of Evens.

Whoever wins it will be a chosen charity that benefits to the tune of £5,000 from Danish broadcaster Viasat.

Here at Betway, we’re delighted to say that any profits from the markets we are offering on this exhibition game will also go to the charity chosen by the winner.
